01. LEVEL 2 AWARD IN SAFEGUARDING AND PROTECTING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE (RQF)

Overview of the Course

The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace. Learners may be working, or wishing to work, with children and young people. This includes those in voluntary events stewarding, football matchday stewarding, security industry or unpaid roles. The qualification covers how to safeguard and protect children, young people and practitioners in the workplace. Children are those aged between 16 and 18. Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015, Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and the Children Act 2004, place duties on a range of organisations to ensure they have regard to the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This includes the need for appropriate safeguarding training, as employers are responsible for ensuring staff are competent to carry out their responsibilities towards the safeguarding of children and young people. This qualification can be used to support the training of employees.

Learners will be required to attend 1 day classroom theory and practical scenario based lessons in safeguarding. Conformation of learning will be achieved through the learner completing a written assignment exercises.

COURSE COMPETENCIES:
  • Understand how to safeguard and protect children, young people and practitioners in the workplace
  • Know how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused
  • Law and legislation as legislation is constantly updated and new laws introduced, assessors are urged to inform themselves about any changes
  • Children and young people: Children are those aged below 16 and young peoples are those aged between 16 and 18
TYPES OF CHILD ABUSE: LEARNERS SHOULD KNOW ALL THE FOLLOWING:
  • Physical, Sexual, Emotional, Neglect, Bullying, Exploitation, Radicalisation, Modern Slavery, E-safety/digital safety, Domestic abuse and Female genital mutilation
02. LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN SPECTATOR SAFETY(RQF)

Overview of the Course

The Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety gives event stewards the flexibility to work at any type of live stadium event the minimum requirements for stewards’ competence for employment, as detailed in the Sports Ground Safety Authority SGSA Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (Green Guide).

This qualification provides a work-based assessment of the knowledge and competence of a steward and is ideally suited to those who are already carrying out the role and wish to match their current skills and knowledge to a recognised standard.

Those learners who have already completed the Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events will be entitled to full use of supported recognition of prior learning (RPL), which can reduce the amount of assessment required to complete the qualification.

  • Monitor crowds and respond to potential crowd problems at spectator events

03. LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE IN SPECTATOR SAFETY(RQF)

Overview of the Course

The aim of the NVQ Level 3 Certificate in Spectator Safety qualification is to provide event supervisors with a nationally recognised level 3 qualification. The course will require learners to attend both classroom and live assessments in the workplace to gain this qualification.

TThis is a competence-based qualification. Therefore, the learning and assessment for this qualification should be completed while working in the relevant environment.

TThe 1st4sport Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety (QCF) assessment will require you to show evidence of meeting all assessment criteria/learning outcomes associated with the qualification while working in the spectator safety environment.

COURSE COMPETENCIES:
  • Prepare stewards and venues for spectator events
  • Maintain stewarding in designated areas and deal with spectator problems and emergencies
  • Deal with accidents and emergencies
  • Develop productive working relationships with colleagues
  • Support the efficient use of resources
  • Manage own resources and professional development
  • Manage information for action
  • Help to manage conflict
  • Control and detain people at a spectator event for action by the police
  • Work with others to improve customer service.
04. LEVEL 4 DIPLOMA SPECTATOR MANAGEMENT(RQF)

Overview of the Course

Developed with the support of industry experts, the Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Spectator Safety Management (RQF) is designed for those aged 18 years and over looking to gain a nationally regulated qualification in spectator safety management. The qualification can be used to confirm learner competence when working at spectator events in a managerial position such as a safety officer (or recognised equivalent), or as an occupational progression from the Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Spectator Safety (RQF).

It is important to note that learners undertaking this qualification should be working in an appropriate capacity to generate the evidence required for the qualification. The qualification is divided into the following mandatory and optional unit groups. To qualify for certification, learners are required to complete all mandatory units and a minimum of two optional units.
